Tess Holliday Works Out How To Shut Trolls Up

This is why we love Tess Holliday. Not only is she a fab, glam, mum/model, she’s a plus size superstar that doesn’t take any crap! With the launch of her upcoming book – The Not So Subtle Art of Being a Fat Girl – we can always be sure to count on Tess for telling it like it is, subtlety be damned.

Tess Holliday hits the gym

The plus size model recently posted a video of herself working out on Instagram. The workout looks tough, with Tess tackling squats, high knees, and barbell curls, and while it may look like hard work, Tess doesn’t quit.

However, it wasn’t long before the post gained the attention of internet trolls, who took it upon themselves to comment on Tess’ efforts ranging from critical to just plain bitchy. We’re not surprised, we’re just disappointed.

@olgafedinaanot offered this little nugget of wisdom: even close to parallel, are you even trying.

@greenlife_f had this witty comment: Before going to a gym, it’s better to absorb fat in cosmetic surgery.

And most disappointing of all was this comment by @flirtybirdphotography, a plus size woman who felt that Tess’ workout post does more harm than good: Being a fat girl who works out, this actually makes all of us look bad, weak and unable to do excersize correctly and safely.

Tess Holliday does not stay quiet

Never one to take abuse lying down, Tess fired back at the various comments, taking screenshots of some of the uglier messages and shared them in a follow-up post. The caption perfectly summed up her frustrations, and why wouldn’t put up with shaming:

“People assume I don’t work out because I don’t feel the need to post it all over the gram, & the reason why? Because it’s no ones business what I do with my body,” she wrote, noting that it’s not her place to tell others to work out, either.

“My mother is partially paralyzed & would love to move her body in the ways I did in my previous post, but unfortunately that’s not a reality for her & so many other people. When you start to truly love yourself, you take care of your body the way YOU see fit. Live & let live y’all.”

“Lastly, when I post about working out, then all of a sudden y’all got jokes, everyone is a doctor & trainer. Y’all just can’t handle seeing someone in a plus size body that isn’t deemed desirable by societies standards THRIVING & it kills y’all. Worry about your own life.”

Plus size women can never win

So the trolls attack and say plus size women should go to the gym and look after themselves. They also attack when someone does just that. Seems like we just can’t win. Good thing none of us give a crap about what the trolls think right?
