2017 may have been a strange year with plenty of ups and downs, but at least we’ve seen a fair amount of body positivity surfacing to battle the negativity that we’re used to. With out fabulous bloggers, Instagrammers and influencers of every shape and size leading the way, it’s been fantastic to see some A-List Hollywood celebrities making some noise one the topic too.
1. Ariel Winter
For one who has grown up in the public eye, Ariel Winter is unfortunately victim to endless scrutiny just for being herself. This is why we applaud her for never shying away from confrontation, and always speaking her mind to shut the hates up. She proudly rocked a pair of Daisy Dukes on her first day of college, refusing to let the trolls’ pathetic backlash from influencing what she does and what she wears!
2. Mindy Kaling
The titluar star of ‘The Mindy Project’ has gone on record time and again calling out haters and defying their negativity. She loves her body and tells the world so, why the heck shouldn’t she?
“Being called fat, being called not pretty, these are just weapons that men can use against women that we can’t use against them,” Kaling told Refinery 29. “I am fairy impervious to when people say those things about me, because it’s like, well, I was born this way and I can’t really change that.”
Never one to complain about not being a size zero, Adele’s talent and personality have shone this year. She opened up about her feelings when Burberry’s Christopher Bailey stepped down after his 17-years at the brand “Christopher Bailey and Burberry were the first major fashion house to dress me and my big arse.”
She shows her fans how important it is to be comfortable in your own skin, and does so with class and a dirty mouth. Never change Adele!
Yoncé is a force of nature, and will not allow her fans to feel anything less than their best. One of the highlights of the year was the time she sent an encouraging body image message with her gold earrings that had “chunky” written across it.
6. Ashley Graham
This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the face of plus size style, Ashley Graham. This year Ashley has consistently advocated for women of all sizes to look beautiful and feel beautiful, showing the celebrity and fashion world that fabulous can come in any size.
