Plus-size Model Stars In Disability Campaign For Yours Clothing

It wasn’t too long ago that Shay Neary was making headlines as the first plus size transgender model to front a major campaign. She partnered with Yours Clothing to provide insightful advice to the trans community about finding your own style during your transition and how to deal with the stigma that comes with being a member of two excluded communities.

Yours clothing are continuing to push for diversity and inclusivity with their latest collaboration with disabled plus size model Katie Knowles. The partnership came about after the brand received several comments from customers highlighting the lack of style advice available to the disabled community.

Fronting the campaign is Katie Knowles, who has spinal stenosis, disc degenerative disease (DDD), hypermobility and failed spinal fusion which caused severe nerve damage throughout her right leg. But she hasn’t let that stop her from becoming a successful plus size model.

Working for HeadlineModels and acting as an ambassador for Models of Diversity she also has her own blog, and is an avid horse rider (according to her Instagram).

Katie has collaborated with Yours Clothing to produce a collection and style guide using insight from her own personal experience.

“Don’t get disheartened, it’s a massive trial and error process. You can always find a way to adjust and adapt it to how you want. Cinderella needs to go to the ball, wheelchair or not. “
